Dean's Awards for Excellence in Teaching

Nominations are open for the Dean's Awards for Excellence in Teaching in 2007.  The faculty also offers for the first time Dean's Commendations for Outstanding Teaching. Commendations are determined by the dean on recommendation by the heads of departments. No application is required.

To apply for the Dean’s Awards, staff must have completed at least two semesters of employment with the faculty at the time of nomination. Sessional, fixed term and continuing staff are all eligible to apply.

Staff can self-nominate or nominate teaching colleagues. Students are also encouraged to nominate their teachers for awards. Winners from the previous three years are not eligible to apply for awards, but they can apply for commendations. Applications close on Monday 15 October 2007.

Announcement of winners and presentation of awards will be made at the Faculty Awards Night at the Park Hyatt on Monday 19 November 2007.

Dean's awards for Excellence in Research

Dean's Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher (ECR)

The aim of this award is to promote, recognize and reward excellence in research by staff members who are in the early stage of their research careers.

The award is intended for individuals whose achievements over the past five years are outstanding and place them significantly ahead of their peers. It is also hoped that the individuals receiving the award would proceed to complete further research of excellent quality and high impact.

Dean's awards for Excellence in Research

The aim of this award is to promote, recognize and reward exceptional research quality and impact by an academic staff member during the period 1 January 2001 to 12 October 2007.

Research Quality refers to the quality of original research including its intrinsic merit and academic impact. Academic impact relates to the recognition of the same or related discipline areas within the community of peers.

Research Impact refers to the impact or use of original research both within and outside the academic peer community. Two awards will be made.
