Department of Economics delivers graduate programmes to Treasury staff
The Graduate Diploma in Economic Studies and the Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and Commerce will be delivered in Canberra from 2009 to Australian Treasury and other Public Service staff.
The Department of Economics was successful in their tender bid for the delivery of postgraduate programs in economics to Treasury following an intensive and competitive bidding process from universities all over Australia.
“The success of the tender bid was due to the good reputation of the faculty and the department and our ability to provide a diverse economics discipline with traditional strengths in analytical rigour and policy relevance,” Professor Dietrich Fausten, head of the department said.
Treasury is providing enthusiastic support for the program directed by Dr Jaai Parasnis from the Department of Economics. Treasury has already appointed some of their senior staff as mentors to junior Treasury staff members participating in the program.
This course is designed to provide a sound understanding of economic and economic statistics issues and their function in the business world. It aims to supplement undergraduate qualifications with a more substantial knowledge of economic principles and quantitative methods.
