Monash’s best advertising students prove their worth
Monash University’s top marketing students have won the Australian and New Zealand’s Academic Association’s (ANZAA) inaugural National Advertising Competition.
“Jess Dohnt, Mikaela Dornbierer, Emma Wynne and Tandadzo Matanda were very excited about winning the competition which was the culmination of a lot of hard work. The group took on this project over and above their normal workload,” Dr Sandra Luxton from the Department of Marketing explained.
The Australian Advertising Federation (AFA) endorsed competition is an Australian first where the nation’s top advertising students were required to create a marketing communications plan suitable for the non-profit organisation, The Oak Tree Foundation.
Entries from the sixty-four students from five universities, Monash University, University of Technology Sydney, Bond University, Curtin University and Queensland University of Technology, were of a high standard and choosing a winner was difficult for the four internationally-accredited judges who hailed from various senior-levels of the advertising industry. Judges included Roseanna Donovan a multi-award winning creative director and copywriter, Paul Yole a strategic planning director, Jemma Enright, a creative director and Erin Sciola, communications manager for the Oak Tree Foundation.
Emma Wynne has also been awarded the DraftFCB-Monash scholarship for 2009 and Jess Dohnt will be travelling to the USA next semester to further her advertising studies.
