Highly regarded Agribusiness Awards established by Monash

The annual Agribusiness Awards for Excellence have grown to become the most successful and highly regarded awards program within the food, beverage and agribusiness sector in Australia.

"The NAB Agribusiness Awards for Excellence, established in 1996 by Monash University, recognise both corporate and individual achievement in Australian agribusiness," Dr Lawrie Dooley, Food and Agribusiness Programs Director in the Department of Management explained.

The Agribusiness Group in the Social and Economic Interface Research Network (SEIRnet) is providing thought-leadership and evidence-based solutions which enhance the global competitiveness of agribusiness firms in Australia. The group has an impressive record and is highly sought after as a research partner in this sector.

Currently the group is undertaking ground-breaking research on the intersection of classical intra-organisational leadership styles with the emerging leadership styles in the context of Australian agribusiness value chains.

The work undertaken in this area by the Agribusiness Group will lead to important conceptual and practical outcomes namely a determination of the role of inter-organisational leadership in reducing transaction cost in Australian agribusiness value chains.

Specific leadership capabilities and skills such as trust building and transparency are required in Australian agribusiness chains to enhance their global competitiveness as well as the development of a model of successful inter-organisational leadership styles for Australian agribusiness value chains.

This year's awards will be announced at a Gala dinner on Thursday 30 October 2008 in the Members Dining Room at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and include Agribusiness Leader of the Year Award, Primary Producer of the Year Award, Export Award, Agribusiness Value Adding Award, Technology and Innovation Award, Environment and Energy Management Award, Rural Enterprise Award, Agribusiness Employer of Choice Award, Risk Management Award and a Governance Award.
