GSB mentors and students get together
More than 270 students have participated in the Monash Graduate School of Business (GSB) Mentoring Program since it was introduced in 2005. Currently the program has 125 active mentors who are Monash alumni with a breadth of knowledge and experience across a variety of sectors.
GSB students who are offered a place in the mentoring program are individually matched with a mentor appropriate to their professional goals, academic pursuits and/or interests, for a three month mentoring relationship.
The students meet with their mentors three times over a three-month period. The mentors provide guidance, support and counsel in line with the students’ personal objectives.
“Mentoring is a free service provided by the GSB. It is a process that facilitates personal
and professional growth, giving students a chance to learn from another’s wisdom and
experience,” Professor Julian Teicher, Director of the GSB said.
At the launch of the 2009 mentoring program, attended by more than 80 people at
Caulfield campus, mentors and students (mentees) came together to meet and share
their experience in the program. Feedback from previous mentors and mentees was
overwhelmingly positive.
Mentors who shared their experiences on the night included Keith Ryall, General
Manager, Learning and Development at Adesse, and Helene Strawbridge, owner of
Management Consultant and Executive Coach.
