Stimulating the entrepreneurial spirit

The Monash New Enterprise Challenge (MNEC) provides a vehicle for Monash postgraduate students throughout the university to develop their entrepreneurial capabilities.

It is a business planning competition where Monash postgraduates in fields such as engineering, IT, medicine, biotechnology and arts have the opportunity to team with MBA and Graduate School of Business students to combine their expertise. It is a real world project and the new business plans are judged by a panel of venture capitalists.

The competition culminates in a pitching contest in October.  The winning team will then represent Monash University at a national John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge in December and the winner of that competition will represent Australia at the international MOOT CORP http://www.mootcorpaustralia.org/ competition in Texas.

There is also potential for Monash MBA alumni to participate indirectly in the competition.  If you have a business idea that you are willing to share with a team of Monash postgraduates, the Monash New Enterprise Challenge can provide you with an opportunity to develop the idea to a stage of potential commercialisation.

Our rules regarding intellectual property and business ownership are based on the John Heine Entrepreneurial Challenge conditions which can be viewed at:  http://www.johnheinechallenge.org/documents/OfficialRules2008.pdf

We would very much welcome Monash MBA alumni involvement.  Please email mbadirector@monash.edu.au if you are interested in participating.
