GSB host Mentor Master Class
The Graduate School of Business (GSB) recently held a seminar The Mentor Master Class for experienced mentors on topics that contribute to their skills as a mentor.
The seminar focused on current thinking and research on a holistic approach to managing one’s career as well as an integrated approach to achieving personal success. Other topics included leveraging the 2008 GSB Mentoring program and related co-curricular activities as strategies for moving from the present to a desired future. Managing the tension of being seen as an expert while fulfilling the role of a facilitator as well as understanding the power of questions also came under the spotlight.
The interactive component of the seminar introduced participants to a Conversations that Matter technique that enabled them to both meet each other and exchange experiences with the purpose of enhancing their practical mentoring skills.
The facilitator of the seminar, Gary Ryan, has 15 years industry experience within the
areas of building organisational and people capacity, leadership training, personal
coaching and executive management experience.
