ECR’s in faculty take initiative on cross-campus collaboration
There is an increase in interest in cross-campus collaboration between members of the Early Career Researcher Network (ECR Net) in the faculty as researchers on the on-shore and off-shore campuses become more aware of research synergies and the potential for collaboration.
Supported by funding from the International Strategic Initiatives Fund, a cohort of ECR’s from the Sunway Campus in Malaysia will attend the upcoming ECR Net Research Workshop on 5 and 6 June 2008 at the Caulfield Campus. “The joint Research Workshop with Sunway ECR’s will direct mobility funding specifically towards cultivating research activity which will benefit ECRs across the faculty”, Dr Ingrid Nielsen, ECR Net Coordinator explained.
According to Ingrid this on-going initiative may lead to an increase in joint research income and joint research output across campuses. It will also foster a collaborative and internationally focussed research culture in the faculty across campuses.
The Faculty of Business and Economics ECR Network is designed to bring Early Career
Researchers across the faculty together to foster interdepartmental and cross-campus
research strengths and collaborations and provide a forum for the discussion and
dissemination of information of particular relevance to ECRs.
The opening address at the next workshop will be delivered by Professor Edwina
Cornish,
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). Other speakers include Professor
Max King,
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Research Training), Professor Jane
Godfrey,
President of the Academic Board and other leading academics from the
faculty.
By joining the ECR Network with more than a 100 members, you will receive the
bi-monthly ECR Network Newsletter and will have the opportunity to participate in a
range of capacity-building activities, including the monthly ECR Seminar Series.
The ECR Network Workshop on 5 and 6 June 2008 will take place in the Link
Theatre, Building S, level 2 at Caulfield Campus.
