2009 Dean's Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career ResearcherThree early career researchers will receive the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research by an Early Career Researcher. The awards will be presented formally at the Dean's Awards, event later in the year. Dr George Athanasopoulos from the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics was awarded the 2007 Mollie Holman Medal for the most outstanding thesis in the faculty. He completed his PhD at Monash University in 2007. He has an exceptional publication record with several A and A* papers since obtaining his PhD, with an additional five papers submitted to top journals. Dr Athanasopoulos has also had some early success in winning a current ARC Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship and has a remarkable research output for a recent PhD graduate. He is a CI on three current NHMRC Project Grants and an AI on a newly awarded Victoria Neurotrauma Initiative Program Grant (with $300,000 in funding to flow to the Centre for Health Economics for the health economics component of the program). Dr Mortimer has also been nominated by the faculty for the 2009 Vice-Chancellor’s ECR Award. Dr Sen Sendjaya from the Department of Management completed his PhD at Monash University in 2005. He has developed a significant profile in a relatively short time as a recognised international authority in the area of servant leadership, developing an original measure of servant leadership behaviour. Dr Sendjaya’s publication record includes articles published in A* ranked journals, Journal of Management Studies and European Journal of Information Systems.
