Monash students 'brandstorm' their way to ParisMarketing students from Monash University came out on top in this year’s L’Oréal Brandstorm Australian final, scoring the chance to compete in the international Brandstorm final held in Paris, France. Final year Bachelor of Business (Marketing) students, Courtney Hewson, Megan Jeganathan and Erin McConchie, who entered the competition as Intrepid, competed against 42 other countries for the coveted prize and received positive feedback. This is the seventh year Brandstorm has been held in Australia – and the 18th year the competition has been held globally. Brandstorm challenges marketing students to be innovative and creative, and allows them to take on the role of a brand manager, and revamp an existing brand in the L’Oreal portfolio. This year’s case study was Diesel. Students received firsthand experience with brand managers and advertising agencies, together with personal feedback on their business and presentation skills and the opportunity to explore the possibility of a career with L’Oréal. According to David Eilenberg, Human Resources Director, L’Oréal Brandstorm provides a unique opportunity to recruit marketing talent internationally. “L’Oréal seeks to recruit the best and brightest talents. Brandstorm provides the opportunity to identify and potentially recruit creative people who can take L’Oréal into the future.” Monash University senior lecturer, Dr Sandra Luxton, said the students did themselves and Monash University proud at the international final in Paris. “Although we did not win, we still received very positive feedback.” |
