TRU showcase their research

The Tourism Research Unit recently held its 11th seminar to showcase the research of their members and to share the experience and expertise of visiting academics and invited guests.

Each year, TRU hosts a number of seminars, conferences and workshops that provide opportunities for academics and industry to network, and disseminate research outcomes to research partners and the broader community.

This year six projects at various stages of design and implementation were presented at the seminar held at Clayton with positive feedback and debate.

The presentations at this year’s seminar were Investigating the perceived impacts of ski tourism and how these affect a community's quality of life by Natalie Ooi, Working holiday makers and the tourism economy of regional Australia by Jeff Jarvis and Vicki Peel, Flagship species, zoo visitors and wildlife conservation behaviours by Amy Smith, Point Nepean: Developing a place of outstanding natural and cultural experiences by Stuart Hughes (Parks Victoria), Politics, power and passion: A case study of regional destination branding in north east Victoria by Fiona Wheeler and Immigration and inbound tourism: A case study of Australia by Neelu Seetaram.

All the presentations are available online at http://www.buseco.monash.edu.au/units/tru/events/index.html
