Course:Master of Applied Econometrics
“I chose Applied Econometrics quite by chance. Surprisingly to me, I realised my interest from my undergraduate degree was related to statistics, which made Econometrics ideal for me. I hadn’t considered Econometrics before and thought my interest was in Accounting and Computing but have now realised my true calling and never looked back. The lecturers were great and explained the material clearly making sure we all understood. They really cared about our performance.
“Monash provided a real international dynamic learning environment where I met many students from other parts of the world who all had unique backgrounds. I got involved in student life and became President of the Indonesian Student Association as well as being given an opportunity to tutor within the Department of Econometrics which was a valuable experience in itself.
“I now work for HSBC in Indonesia as Manger of Quality Improvement and am part of their Resident Manager Trainee scheme which is an accelerated management program. My Monash course has given me confidence and I believe I have the real skills to do the job. I use what I have learnt daily, especially the essential analytical and quantitative skills we were taught. I hope to progress to senior management with HSBC within the next five years and in due course I am keen to study for my PhD in Econometrics.”
