Relevant work experience
You will be assessed on your relevant work experience. For example, for the Master of Marketing, you will need to demonstrate two years of marketing, sales, promotions, retailing, or advertising experience.
For the MBA (Master of Business Administration), you will need to demonstrate a minimum of five years work experience with at least three years of professional/managerial experience. Managerial experience is when you have worked as a supervisor of staff and/or have been responsible for high-level decision-making, and professional experience includes those jobs such as auditors, accountants, lawyers or similar positions where you work at a high level but don't necessarily supervise staff. You are also required to submit two original employment references, and a one-page statement of purpose outlining your reasons for applying to the Monash MBA, and what you think you can contribute to the program.
Master and Graduate Diplomas in the Management and Human Resource Management programs require a minimum of two years full-time work experience or equivalent (e.g. four years working 20 hours per week).
You will need to demonstrate six years of mid-to-higher level experience to apply for the Executive Certificate in Business.
Things to include are:
Your achievements - not only do you need to describe your duties, but you need to describe your acheivements. Such as improvements or innovations you have implemented, and challenges you have overcome as part of your job.
Your career progression - we need to be able to see how you have moved from your first job to your current job.
Tell us a bit about your organisation - the type of organisation, the marketplace, number of employees, and your role.
ie: .." I work for MousePad Technologies who are the second largest producers of mouse pads in Australia. MousePad employ 550 people in Melbourne, and another 100 around Australia. MousePad make $20 million in profit per annum, and are increasing marketshare by 5% each year. My role at MousePad is the Australian Divisional Sales Manager, and I am directly responsible for 7 State Sales Managers and their teams, and I manage a budget of AU$3 million per year."
