Eligibility Criteria
Applicants considering study with the Faculty of Business and Economics must meet the Faculty’s minimum academic and English language proficiency entry requirements.
1. MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelors degree in a related discipline from Monash University requiring at least four years of full-time study, which normally includes a research component in the fourth year, leading to an honours class I or IIA degree, or
- a course leading to a level rated by the relevant department, faculty and committee as equivalent to an honours class I or IIA degree, or
- A masters degree in a related discipline, including a significant research component, at least equivalent to an Australian honours degree (a full-time year of research and an examined thesis). It is normally expected that a minimum grade of HIIA has been obtained for the research thesis or project, or
- A qualification deemed equivalent.
2. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
If English is not your first language and your recent tertiary education has not been conducted in English (study has to be of at least 2 years duration within the last 5 years), you would require one of the following English test results:
- The IELTS Overall Band Score for admission into HDR programs is 7.0 and the Individual Band Score is 6.5 or
- The American Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score is a minimum total score of 600 and a score of 5.0 or more in the TWE (paper based), a minimum total score 250 together with a score of 5.0 or more in the ER (computer-based score), or a minimum total score of 100 with a minimum score of 25 in each of the written, reading, speaking and listening tests (internet based test).
