Listing of Scholarships

Scholarships are available for full-time postgraduate research students on the basis of outstanding merit for eligible applicants.

Commonwealth and University Scholarships

Monash University is one of the Group of Eight, Australia’s leading universities recognised for their excellence in research, scholarship and teaching. Together, this group undertakes 70 per cent of all research conducted in Australian universities. Online applications for 2010 Postgraduate Research Scholarships are NOW OPEN and close on 31st October 2009.

Faculty Scholarships

The following Scholarships and Awards are offered by the Faculty of Business & Economics each year. Please note that the applicants who complete the 2010 Postgraduate Research Scholarship will automatically be considered for the following Faculty Postgraduate Research Scholarships and Awards.

  • 2010 Faculty Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Stipend (living allowance) or fee scholarships are offered each year. A Stipend scholarship is valued at $20,427 pa (2009). A Tuition Fee scholarship is valued at $20,440 pa (2009).

Faculty Postgraduate Research Scholarships and Awards may be held concurrently with a Commonwealth and University Scholarship and with other Faculty Postgraduate Research Awards and Scholarships.

  • 2010 Dean's Excellence Awards

Up to ten awards, each valued at around $6,000 pa, are available each year to the top ten applicants of that year. These awards may be held for a research masters for up to 2 years, and for a PhD up to 3 years.

  • 2010 Donald Cochrane Postgraduate Research Scholarship

The late Professor Donald Cochrane, a distinguished economist, was founding dean of the Faculty of Economics and Politics (now Business and Economics) at Monash University and held office from 1961 to 1981. Each year up to three awards will be offered to full-time PhD candidates conducting research in any of the business disciplines. This three year scholarship is valued at $10,000 per annum.
