Student work placement program

Gippsland Lake

The School of Business and Economics at Monash University Gippsland has a strong focus on industry relevance and links with the regional community and is dedicated to providing the best possible personal and professional development for our students. The introduction of the new Work Placement Program is a logical addition to our quality undergraduate programs, offering new opportunities to both students and employers.

We believe that by encouraging our students to engage with the local business community they will gain practical knowledge and skills that will stand them in good stead for their working life and the constant change and increasingly globalised economy of the 21st century.

Whilst the School of Business and Economics already has well developed relationships with the local business community, we are keen to extend our connections to the benefit of the whole Gippsland region. We invite businesses to contact us to find out more about this exciting new program.

Success starts with experience

Bridging the gap

The Monash Work Placement Program enables highly-motivated business students from Monash University Gippsland Campus to gain invaluable work experience by working in local companies in the Gippsland region. This program provides a unique opportunity to 'bridge the gap' between the academic and business worlds. Both students and employers benefit from the professional perspective that a business student can offer.

The Work Placement Program will be available to Gippsland on-campus students who have completed second year of the Bachelor of Business and Commerce degree. Students will integrate theory and practice while undertaking real work in an authentic environment for predetermined periods. This quality experiential learning program will contribute to students' learning and employers' productivity.

The aim of the program is to enhance the total tertiary education experience through practical experience. It is designed for undergraduate students with limited industry work experience who have a sound academic standing in Business and Economics.

A mutually beneficial investment

Program format

The Work Placement Program will have a unique format to assist students to make their experience the highlight of their university career. The work placement will be flexible to suit employers' needs.

The work placement can be undertaken over the summer period, semester one or semester two.
