Course discontinuation

You cannot discontinue enrolment in your course via WES.

To withdraw from all units and end your course enrolment, you must complete and lodge an Enrolment Variation Form, indicating a 'total withdrawal'. Enrolment Variation forms are available from the TMC Academy. Alternatively, you may submit notification of your discontinuation in writing, addressed to the Faculty of Business and Economics via TMC Academy.

NOTE: Check the deadlines for submitting forms as discontinuation of a course has implications for the refund of fees.

If you are eligible for a refund of fees you must indicate the currency you require for your refund. Also, it is crucial to provide correct personal details when a refund is requested as those details will be recorded on the refund cheque.

If there is no currency request your refund will be written in Australian dollars.

Cross-campus unit enrolments

Normally you will only be permitted to enrol in a unit at another campus, including Off-Campus Learning, when there is no similar unit on offer at your home campus. This requirement may vary in exceptional circumstances and is subject to approval. You should contact the Faculty of Business and Economics via TMC Academy for further information.

Cross-faculty unit enrolments

Subject to the requirements of your course, you may select as electives any units from another faculty across the University. It is your responsibility to ensure that electives chosen meet the requirements of your course. It is your responsibility to check unit details and any special requirements with the host faculty.

Intermission

Applying for intermission (leave of absence)

You cannot apply for intermission via WES.

If you are experiencing difficulties with your studies or you wish to take time off from study for any reason, you can apply for intermission (leave of absence) for up to a maximum of one year at any one time. When granting leave the faculty reserves students a place in their course. The total period of approved leave is counted in the time limit for completion of the course (ten years). If you do not apply for intermission and fail to re-enrol, your place in your course may be forfeited.

Credit may not be received for studies undertaken elsewhere during the period of intermission.

If you are on a conditional enrolment you will be unable to seek intermission.

Download the Intermission Application Form from the Student Services Form page.

Please note:

  • If you are on intermission for semester 1 only, you should still enrol in units for semester 2.
  • If you wish to extend your intermission, you must re-apply; failure to reapply for intermission will result in you losing your place in your course.

Students returning from intermission (leave of absence)

If you are returning to study after a period of intermission (leave of absence) you need to amend your enrolment via WES.

You will need to update your ID card. For further information please contact TMC Academy.

Summer semester

You cannot enrol in summer units on WES.

The Faculty of Business and Economics will be offering two units over the Summer Semester 2008/2009 period being MGW1010 Managing people and organisations and MGW3401 Strategic management. All students will be sent an email to their Monash email accounts advising of enrolment procedures and other information pertaining to summer. Further information will be available from TMC Academy.

For further information please contact TMC Academy.

Transfer to another course

You cannot use WES to transfer from one course to another.

To transfer from one undergraduate course to another within the Faculty of Business and Economics, you must complete the Course Transfer Application form, and submit it to the TMC Academy. The closing date for course transfers for Business and Economics courses offered at TMC will be advised by TMC Academy.

If you wish to transfer to a course in another faculty you should contact TMC Academy for further information and an application form.

You may transfer between Business and Economics courses up to halfway through your course, provided satisfactory performance has been maintained and unit requirements have been met. Note that you will also have to satisfy any relevant mathematics prerequisites. If your transfer application is successful, enrolment in the new course will be subject to whatever fees, course structure and conditions apply to that course at the time of enrolment.

Pending the outcome of a transfer application, you should re-enrol in your current course during the re-enrolment period on WES. Enrolment in the new course will take place in conjunction with the enrolment process for commencing students early in 2010. You will be contacted by the faculty regarding arrangements.

Go to the course transfers page for more information.

Unit failure

If you have failed a unit you can still use WES to amend your enrolment.

If you have failed any units which are pre or co-requisites for the upcoming semester, the enrolled units will be shown on WES as 'INVALID'.
You must remove any 'INVALID' units and select replacement units.

If you fail only the last unit of your study you may be eligible for Special Assessment. Contact the Faculty of Business and Economics via TMC Academy for further details.
