Honours

The honours year offers you the opportunity to build on your undergraduate degree and to conduct a supervised research project.

During the honours year, students develop:
  • In depth knowledge of a specialist area in business and economics from advanced studies and research in the chosen discipline
  • Comprehensive research skills relevant to business research
  • Skills to plan and undertake rigorous independent research
  • Technical and analytical skills
  • Critical and independent thinking
  • The ability to effectively communicate research activities and findings.

Honours graduates have a higher level of expertise that is valued by employers and they therefore have a competitive advantage in the job market. An honours degree is also the first step towards a research-based higher degree, such as a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
