- Mita's research interests include industrial organisation , applied economics, international trade, industrialisation and competition policy in Asia.
- Professor Brett Inder (Co-Director)
- Brett's research interests include health and education in developing countries; migration, remittances and labour markets.
- Dr James Ang
- James's research interests include economic growth and financial liberalisation; savings behaviour and investment in Asia.
- Dr Simon Angus
- Simon's research interests include game theory, network theory, agent-based modelling, computational economics, and the science of complexity.
- Dr Katy Cornwell
- Katy's research interests include migration, language and labour markets, income mobility; educational achievement; remittances and microfinance.
- Dr Ergun Dogan
- Ergun's research fields include Financial Institutions and Services and Corporate Finance and Governance. His current research interests are productivity and efficiency of financial institutions in East and South East Asia; consolidation in banking sectors of Asian countries; corporate governance issues in South East Asia
- Dr Susan Freeman
- Susan's research interests include globalisation and internationalisation, small and medium-sized enterprises and internationalisation, internet technologies and internationalisation and supply chain management and internationalisation.
- Asadul's research interests include Labor Economics, Development Economics and Applied Econometrics..
- Professor Jakob Madsen
- Jakob’s research interests are in macroeconomics, economic growth, stock and house valuation, macrofinance, the equity premium puzzle, the Great Depression, history of economic growth, and applied econometrics.
- Professor Pushkar Maitra
- Pushkar's research interests include the analysis of poverty and welfare in developing countries; health, education, fertility, mortality and gender preference, microfinance, economic experiments
- Dr Vinod Mishra
- Vinod's research interest lies in the broad areas of Financial Economics, Time Series, Applied Econometrics, Industrial Organization and Development Economics.
- Dr Brett Parris
- Brett's research interests include the complex dynamics of developing country economies; agent-based modelling; and the interactions between poverty, climate change, conflict, energy, agriculture and water.
- Professor Ranjan Ray
- Ranjan's research interests include gender bias in consumption patterns, intra household resource allocation, child labour, household poverty and dietary patterns in developing countries, Living Standards, HIV/AIDS and its impact on the Next Generation, Tax Design and Tax Reforms, Corruption , Demographic Effects on expenditure patterns and on inequality movements.
- Professor Russell Smyth
- Russell has researched extensively on state-owned enterprise reform. His most recent projects focus on equity for debt swaps in state-owned enterprises and theories of diversification in large-scale state-owned enterprises and enterprise groups. Russell has published on the transaction costs of doing business with Malaysia, the transaction costs incurred by Malaysian exporters and corporate governance of listed firms in Malaysia.
- Dr Rebecca Valenzuela
- Rebecca's research interests include empirical analysis of inequality, poverty, consumption patterns and living standards in developing economies.
- Professor Marika Vicziany
- Marika's research interests are the political economy of development, mass poverty, inequality, minorities, economic liberalisation, foreign investment, governance and regional security in South Asia, Malaysia and western China.
- Dr Koi Nyen Wong
- Koi Nyen's research interests include Export Demand, Industrialisation in Malaysia, Multinational Trade and Investment.

- Ms Alice de Jong
- Alice's research focuses mainly on securities and corporations law in mainland China and Hong Kong. General expertise in East Asian legal systems, complemented by Mandarin Chinese language ability in the case of the Chinese legal system.
Professor Robert Brooks- Robert's research interests include design and evaluation of microfinance programs; emerging financial markets in Asia.
- Dr Piyadasa Edirisuriya
- Piyadasa's research interests cover South Asian financial sector issues, banking, corruption and the financial sector, financial market efficiency and other similar issues relating to the financial sector including stock markets.
- Professor Dietrich Fausten
- Dietrich's research interests revolve around the financial sector and open economy macroeconomics, including Malaysian banking; nature and composition of cross-border capital movements, and errors and omissions in balance of payments reporting.
- Professor Peter Forsyth
- Peter's main research field has been applied microeconomics. He has a particular interest in transport economics, especially economics of air transport. This has led on to an interest in the economics of tourism.
- Dr Mahendra Goyal
- Mahendra's research interests include Performance Indicators; Earnings per Share (EPS); Cash Flow Reporting; Organisational, environmental and behavioural aspects affecting organisation's management and accounting information system and control; and Audit fee determinants in the South Asia.
- Dr Vijay Marisetty
- Vijay's research interests are Asian Capital markets, Fund Performance measurement and Market micro-structure.
- Dr Mohan Nandha
- Mohan's research interests include Financial and economic time series; Initial public offerings; South Asian markets; ex-dividend price behaviour; financial mathematics.
- Dr Siang Ng
- Siang's research interests include China's recent economic performance, income disparities in China and the economic relationship between Mainland China and Taiwan.
- Dr Janine Pascoe
- Janine's research interests are in the area of Malaysian Company Law, with a particular focus on recent reforms concerning directors' duties and corporate governance.
- Associate Professor He-ling Shi
- He-Ling is researching the formulation of development strategy for China's Western Region. He has recently been involved in two major projects funded by the Asian Development Bank, focusing on the economic development of western China.
- Professor Steve Worthington
- Steve's research interests are in the use of plastic payment cards in China ; the savings and consumption culture of China ; the entry of Foreign financial institutions into the Chinese Market.
- Dr Wicky J Wickramanayake
- Wicky's research interests include Banking, financial systems at the country/global level, mergers/acquisitions, bankruptcy and business failures, fund management, superannuation and pension finance.
- Dr Xueyan Zhao
- Xueyan's research interests are in the areas of applied microeconometrics, especially discrete choice models used to model micro-unit consumer and producer data, and equilibrium displacement modelling for policy analysis
