Each year, TRU hosts a number of seminars, conferences and workshops that  showcase the research of our members, share the experience and expertise of visiting academics, provide opportunities for academics and industry to network, and disseminate research outcomes to research partners and the broader community.

3rd International Tourism and Media Conference

25-28 November 2008, Melbourne

The third International Tourism and Media Conference, jointly hosted by Monash and La Trobe Universities, was held in Melbourne during November 2008. The conference reflected upon the broad relationship between tourism and the media and was organised to develop this exciting field of tourism research and to move knowledge forward through the presentation of refereed papers, working papers and discussion that will lead to further research. Presentations covered a full spectrum of topics, such as film-based tourism, visitor management and media impacts on tourism.

Symposium on Quality Ecotourism Experiences

9 December 2005, Melbourne

In conjunction with the Victorian Network of the Sustainable Tourism CRC, TRU hosted a symposium covering a wide range of topics connected with developing, defining, delivering and sustaining quality ecotourism. The symposium was attended by over 70 participants and featured a number of board members of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) presenting real-world examples and case studies, facilitating debate and discussion and workshopping key issues. The event was aimed at staff and managers in the ecotourism and nature-based tourism industry, as well as those working in government, NGOs and ecotourism education.
