Current Research Projects

"Assessment of Interpretation Outcomes: The Development and Refinement of a Methodology and Evaluation Tools for Tourism Practitioners"

This project is aimed at developing a methodology and set of tools that can be adapted by site managers and tourism operators for assessing interpretation outcomes at their own sites/operations. It is anticipated that heritage and protected area managers will benefit from the tangible outcomes of this project.

Funded by Sustainable Tourism CRC in collaboration with University of Tasmania, Port Arthur Historic Site, Sovereign Hill Museums Association and Tourism Tasmania.

"Experimental Evaluation of Persuasive Communication Strategies Aimed at Influencing Problem Visitor Behaviour at Port Campbell National Park"

An inventory and analysis of visitors' beliefs with respect to walking off tracks is being used to design a communication strategy aimed at more effectively influencing visitors' behaviour.

"Development of a Communication Campaign for Conservation Fundraising via Travellers' Philanthropy on Cruise Ships in Baja California, Mexico"

This project involves psychological research to inform design and delivery of a communication campaign aimed at generating funds for conservation via donations of cruise ship passengers.

Funded by Lindblad Expedtions, New York, and the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation ( Mexico City ).
