Current Research Projects
"STCRC State and Territories Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) and Economic Impact (CGE) Models Project"

This project has involved developing a set of TSAs for each Australian state and territory. These take the same form as the national TSA published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. TSAs are static sets of accounts designed to complement the normal sets of National Accounts. They can measure the size or economic contribution of the tourism industry, in terms of such variables as output, value added and employment. TSAs, however, are not, by themselves, economic impact models. A subsequent phase of this research project will be linking the state and territory TSAs with tourism Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) based economic impact models. The tourism CGE models and TSAs developed under this project will make it possible to explore a wide range of tourism measurement and economic impact issues at the state and national level in Australia.
